Young people are usually marginalized in the national political process because of their age, limited opportunities, and lack of experience and as such this network seeks to bridge the gap and help the youth to become good political leaders.
We seek to be the world’s leading network that trains, mentor and prepares young leaders for politics, diplomacy and entrepreneurship.
One of the major challenges facing the youth in Africa is unemployment. The Young Politicians & Leaders Network believes that in helping solve this huge challenge, inculcating the culture of entrepreneurship, providing the needed support, training, mentorship and facilitation will greatly help in solving the huge unemployment problem on the continent. This, YPLN will do through its flagship programme called, KickStart Entrepreneurship Challenge.
YPLN aims to become a worldwide network of young politicians and leaders.
Young Politicians & Leaders Network contributes with its commitment to the attainment and raising awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through its strategic approach or yearly events.
YPLN is an offshoot of the Young Politicians of Ghana, established in the University of Ghana and has been active in organising programs to motivate and prepare the younger generations for leadership responsibilities.
YPLN creates a platform for accomplished youth leaders from different facets of life to mentor the younger generation while gaining access to insights, tools, and opportunities to engage with key stakeholders and enhance their ability to influence global leaders.
As a part of our strategy, we shall collaborate with development partners such as diplomatic services, relevant government agencies, politicians, thought leaders, media organisations, NGOs, academia, and leaders of industries. The goal of the strategic partnership is to create avenues for youth mentorship and address the current and emerging challenges regarding employment, entrepreneurship and participation in governance.
YPLN shall expand its network of memberships and strategic alliances across the continents of Africa and Europe. We shall organise events, seminars and workshops that encourage intelligent interactions with exemplary youth leaders, teach soft leadership skills, stimulate creative thinking and encourage entrepreneurship. The goal is to transform passive youths into a passionate citizen who shall serve as agents of positive change and assume leadership roles in different sectors of the national polity.
We are working towards creating a generation of youth who are determiners of their own destiny, who are aware that leadership places a demand in accountability, and passionate to create a better society for future generations.

The YPLN organised an extensive outreach in 2011/2012 to reach out to youths in secondary schools regarding the thought-provoking subjects of leadership, poverty, and corruption. We successfully emphasised the role of leadership in the national development, the inimical impacts of corruption and the concept of eradicating poverty and corruption through our combined efforts. We believe that steering up the minds of young people to take responsibility for their future, and that of the nation is critical to creating a promising future for the nation
In May 2012, YPLN organised an award dinner ceremony to honour astute political leaders in Ghana who have impacted the youths positively. The occasion was graced by leaders from all works of life. The current Chief of Staff to the President of Ghana, Former Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament, Mrs Frema Opare was present to receive an award for her contributions towards women empowerment and youth development. Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu (Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice and Former Education Minister) was present to receive an award for her immense contributions towards youth development.
